When the DAO was formed, a core team created a structure of committees and assigned leadership roles based on the skills of those who dedicated themselves to build out the organization. These committees are able to operate as autonomous functions and act with agility on activities aligned with the DAO’s goals. With the inclusion of REP, there is now a system where committee heads can distribute incentives, enabling them to officially build out their teams by identifying needs and staffing workloads accordingly.

With the growth of the organization and the scope of its ambitions (and the start of a new leadership term, per the elections proposal), a new organizational structure needs to be enacted. The proposed core team structure incorporates the results of the elections and distributes decision-making to leaders based on their expressed interests and demonstrated track records.

Head of Partnerships: Kyle Krasicky
Head of Engineering: Jon Gregis
Head of DAO Relations: Mason Lynaugh
Head of Education: Jesse Paterson
Head of Membership: Ruwan Perera
Head of Legal Affairs: Shane Boasberg
Head of Community: Ryan Harvey
Head of Events: Mitch Morales
Head of Public Policy Research: Michael Weaver

Compared to the original DAO core team structure, there have been some notable changes:

‘Co-chairs’ have been removed. Engineering will be led by one person and membership has been broken out into three distinct categories
1. Strategy: organizational vision
2. Community: community engagement
3. Membership: member management
There are three new core contributor positions
1. Events: planning and execution of large-scale productions
2. Public Policy: management of an ATX DAO Think Tank, responsible for producing policy ideas and reports
3. DAO Relations: strategic marketing and public relations activities
Operations and Treasury have been frozen until further notice
1. Non-differentiating operational tasks and accounting practices will be handled by a paid Operations Manager
2. Activities involving sensitive information will be handled by Head of Strategy and other official core-contributors
3. DAO members interested in Head of Treasury or Head of Operations should reach out to the core team

I am assuming marketing tasks will be falling under DAO relations?

SamPadilla Yeah, it will. The brief description is strategic marketing and public relations activities. The idea is to expand the scope of the position to be more representative the work Marketing was handling and will need to handle moving forward. For example, even with the dedicated Events committee breaking off from 'Marketing & Events', the DAO Relations role will be coordinating other public-facing, smaller scale events akin to the government event on Feb 17th.

One more question, will this be voted on or is it de-facto?

I am asking because if this is already the new team structure until the fall term, I need to chase the committee heads for a headshot for the website. I wanna know if there is still waiting to "officialize" this tho.

SamPadilla I was planning on putting it in snapshot for best practices and for transparency, but for all intents and purposes this structure will be official. Let me know if you want help getting headshots!

As @SamPadilla has pointed out this is actually for SPRING term since the elections proposal has the April elections for a "Spring Term".

I feel like we still need an Operations Committee Head. I also feel like we need a Treasurer who could be part of the Operations committee. I feel like we need an Operations Committee lead even when we have an Operations Manager, who is intended to be an Admin resource to handle the day-to-day logistics of the DAO.

Also a Marketing team seems appropriate. DAO Relations sounds like Partnerships, I'm not sure the difference is clear from the title.

Note that there are a couple top contributors https://www.atxdao.com/leaderboard who are missing from this proposal. Can we start creating named contributor positions who are not necessarily head of a committee and can we put their pictures on the website: https://www.atxdao.com/team? I feel like having more people listed on the team page is better and also as a DAO (distributed autonomous organization) it is appropriate to display a broader set of contributors not just top-of-the-hierchy-leaders. As a more flat organization ATX DAO should acknowledge hierarchy for organizational reasons, but also emphasize bottom up power, ideas, and opportunity which is part of the core values https://www.atxdao.com/about of ATX DAO. Otherwise, what is the difference between a DAO and a normal organization?

One thing to keep in mind is the organization of Notion where we have content organized into logical high-level committees: Operations, Partnerships, Marketing, Events, Engineering, Membership, Education, Treasury, Legal, Government. We also have tasks tagged by committee in dework.

I don't think we need to have one-to one leadership, but we should at least have each named leader belong to a committee for information organization purposes.
