Proposal Discussion: Join Andrew Yang’s Lobby3 web3 org as a Level2 Member

Summary:

Political figure Andrew Yang has launched a web3 lobbying group to bring blockchain solutions and ideas to Washington. ATXDAO’s civic goals are similar, and Austin could really benefit from a strong relationship with this flagship political organization at the federal level.

By minting a Level2 NFT, ATXDAO would hold a token that gives ATXDAO members access to monthly virtual meetings with Web3 leaders to ask questions and help shape Lobby3 projects and policy priorities. ATXDAO could also host events as a Lobby3 leader in Austin, and Ryan is in discussions with Lobby3 leaders to establish a professional connection between the organizations.

There will also be occasional Lobby3 in-person events (around the USA) and ATXDAO can send a representative.

ATXDAO should create a Lobby3 committee and committee head to keep ATXDAO informed on Lobby3 activities.

Lobby3 staff is currently ironing out the details on how we will be able to use this NFT as a group, since some of the Level2 benefits are designed for individual Level2 purchasers. Here are some questions that Ryan has asked them to define for us:

Has Lobby3 considered the best way to allow DAOs to participate in Level2 Access activities and share that access with their membership? We’d like to avoid having to get all members in a single meeting room to listen to the monthly virtuals. Will these monthly chats be only accessible through login with a wallet containing the NFT?
Lobby3 ANSWER: Lobby3 may accept a whitelist of ATXDAO discord members to participate in Lobby3 monthly meetings.

Is it possible to allow multiple individuals from ATXDAO participate in the VIP events if we only have one NFT? Do you know how many in-person events you’re offering in 2022?

ATXDAO is also partnering with other civic/city DAOs and swapping membership tokens for access to events etc. Has Lobby3 considered any kind of process like this for gifting Level1 or Level2 NFTs to aligned DAOs? Perhaps through a grant/application process?

SXSW is March 10-20. Will Lobby3 be making an appearance? Would you like to work with ATX-DAO on any events/parties? We are hosting one on March 16th.

I don't think it could hurt to have access to the VIP events. I personally will probably buy a tier one token for myself.

I'd say grabbing an advocate token would align with our goals.

I like this part of the roadmap:

It would be good for us to be a key player when Lobby3 comes to Texas.

Yes I agree that having an established relationship with Lobby3 will help when they inevitably come knocking on Austin's door. In fact, we can even be the ones helping them make connections, thereby increasing our ATX DAO brand within local government.

To answer your question from the discord "the questions in this proposal haven't been answered yet?"
Correct, only the first one about allowing multiple users to access the monthly discord virtual meetings has been answered with "Lobby3 will whitelist 5-7 accounts for each meeting which will hopefully allow your organization to participate."
So, we will probably want to host a monthly ATX DAO meeting where the Lobby3 discord is broadcast. I envision us being able to host this as a Lobby3/ATX DAO co-meeting of sorts, with the discord broadcast being the "speaker" and then we continue the meeting with perhaps a relevant local presenter, then a discussion, then happy hour. Assuming Lobby3 doesn't shoot this down entirely, I think this will be a great way to promote ATX DAO locally, and possibly they will share our tweets of the event, gathering some national exposure.

The rest of those unanswered questions are being brought up by the Lobby3 discord manager in the next Lobby3 staff meeting, so he will hopefully get back to us soon. I should not have included them in the proposal.

What if Lobby3 offers to grant ATX DAO a Level2 NFT for free? Should we wait to hear back from Lobby3 about this possibility and save 1Eth? I don't think so.

But What if we mint an NFT on Feb 28th and then get a Level2 NFT gifted to us later? It would mean that we can send 2 people to VIP events. And get more whitelisted names for monthly discord meetings. Maybe we could auction-off the NFT, even, or gift it to another DAO for some reason in the future. Either way, I think we don't need to wait to mint.

it's prob fine as is but if i were you just for cleanliness sake i would only include the information you have confirmed on the proposal. it's more of a personal preference thing for me because when i do my proposals i think about them living on chain forever.

i think this is a great idea and really appreciate you taking the time and doing the work to bring it to fruition.
