Dear ATX DAO Community
A while back I wrote a long post making the case for ATX DAO HQ. A cool spot to host all sorts of social events and gather as a community. If you’ve been keeping up with the ATX DAO lore, you should be well aware that this project is something we’ve been trying to do since day one.
Unfortunately, back then the DAO didn’t have the financial resources nor the support of the wider community to pursue a project of this magnitude. It was simply something out of our reach.
However, I am back at it again with another proposal to make this place a reality. At this point I’ve made it my sole mission to find ATX DAO a home and with the amazing help from Megan Murray, Sam Padilla and Mason Lynaugh we’ve stumbled upon another incredible opportunity.
Opportunity
On October 19th, Sam received a reply to a tweet talking about ATX DAO’s approach to community building. The account had 2 followers and no profile picture but the content of the tweet was fascinating. The person on the other side of the convo claimed that they were building 3D printed homes with a grand vision to become the core infrastructure provider for the Network State (If you are not familiar with the term, drop what you are doing and go listen to this 7 hr podcast. It will change your life).
Anyway, since the content of the tweet was full of excitement, Sam and Mason decided to meet up with the author to learn more about it. His name is Patrick Tighe and he turned out to be a successful real estate developer and lawyer with over 10+ years of experience in the industry. Aside from his legal work, he runs a project with his brother called Eden Homes, a 3D printed neighborhood focusing on the environment, community, and technology for sustainable living.
Patrick shared with us that he had recently purchased 5 acres of land located at 500 W Dittmar, Austin TX 78745 and was interested in partnering with a crypto organization to develop the land into Austin’s greatest crypto hub. We thought this was a perfect match and decided to jump at opportunity by creating a proposal that would benefit both parties.
Offering
What ATX DAO Gets:
Ability to use the property’s event space for free (with some cadence) to host crypto events. Events include but are not limited to:
- Networking events,
- Seminar/half-day events,
- Speaker events, Workshops and classes
- Parties
Office space to be used as follows:
- The office space will be used as the main hub for ATX DAO’s accelerator program and hacker houses.
- Free access for ATX DAO members
- Free access for ATX DAO accelerated startups for the duration of the program
- $50 - $100/month for community members to use the space. ATX DAO keeps these funds.
If ATX DAO raises funds to build the office space, the DAO can be entitled to a percentage ownership of the property if both parties agree.
What Patrick and Co. Get
ATX DAO Membership NFTs
We’d love for the Eden team plus the people working on developing the land to be part of our community. We proposed to use 5 of the remaining Zilker II NFTs to their core team. This include:
- Patrick Tigher (CEO of Eden Homes and part owner of the Dittmar property)
- Julie Tighe (part owner of the Dittmar property)
- Andrew Tighe (COO of Eden Homes)
- Torin Miner (Architect who can help us design ATX DAO’s office space)
- Jorge Ortiz (Austin real estate developer working on creating NFT real estate communities)
Drive traffic to revenue generating services
Patrick and co. are planning on adding services to the land that include but are not limited to:
- Coffee shop
- Food services/trucks
- Airbnb housing
As part of the proposal, ATX DAO commits to bring value to this set of services by driving foot traffic into the property.
Revenue Sharing
ATX DAO commits to a revenue sharing model following the guidelines below:
- 25% of profit from any ticketed events held at the property. These include:
*Networking
*Seminar events, workshops, hackathons
*Parties
- 25% of profit generated from sponsored events, with a minimum of $2.5K per event
- 25% of profit generated from sponsorships for future hacker houses during big crypto conferences in Austin.
Deal flow from Web3 Accelerator
Since the office will allow us to run ATX DAO’s first accelerator program, we proposed to give Pat and co. Priority deal flow from ATX DAO Web3 accelerator.
Closing Thoughts
We presented the above proposal to Patrick and co. and they are totally on board. Now it is up to our community to decide if this makes sense for the future of ATX DAO. I urge you all to think deeply about this opportunity and provide thoughtful feedback. This is a big step forward for our community and we’d love to hear what each and everyone one you has to say about this endeavor
