Fund SXSW Venue Downpayment

It's time to start thinking ahead to 2023. For our second SXSW event, we have secured Empire Control Room & Garage on the evening of March 15th. Like last year, we selected this date because it is the overlapping day between SXSW Interactive and SXSW Music.

Empire has quoted us 13k for venue and staffing with a 12k bar minimum. This is a great rate, especially during SXSW.

Expect a more detailed proposal soon that details budgeting and how DAO members can participate in fundraising and more; however, we need to put up the cash to secure this venue.

Empire requires a 50% downpayment and we request 12.5k to be released from the treasury to cover this cost.

512mace would we consider potential ways to generate revenue from the event to recoup costs / potentially generate net revenue for the DAO? Such as making it ticketed / charging for drinks for non-NFT holders?

tlogs-eth We will open it up to sponsors like we have for previous events. If we run up short, we may also want to consider doing a cover at the door to help offset costs.

tlogs-eth yeah like Megan said, the ideal scenario is that we are able to raise funds in excess of production costs and use that to refill our treasury.

Ticketing is a challenging subject here because we want to be competitive and make sure that we fill out the venue with good people. Since SXSW has so much going on, I don't want to deter people from coming.

Open bar for members makes sense.
